Policies of Reel Lumiere Online Magazine

Reel Lumiere Magazine is a professional and independent online publication, created and published by Nashville Women in Film and Television. Our rules and guidelines are as follows:

All articles must provide value and tangible insights into the Film, TV, and other media industries, and are thoroughly reviewed by our editors or reviewers before being published. Not every article survives the process.

Neither our advertisers nor members influence our content or editing process.

Our monthly features consist of:

  • A COVER STORY AND COVER PHOTO of a Female in industry. Please note that the COVER STORY may be submitted, but the final approval is at the discretion of the Publisher. The Cover Story must be approved by the Publisher and the Editor at least two months prior to publication. Monthly columns do not qualify for Cover Stories.
  • “DEEP FOCUS – Innovative Women in Film & TV” – by Pam Tate
  • WISDOM & ARTS “Career Management Coaching” – by Patricia Leonard
  • “WOMEN OF TRUE GRIT” – by Edie Hand

Annual features:

  • “Mothers and Daughters” – in May
  • Feature of a Male who has influenced Women in Film and Television – in November

 Publishing Policy & Rights

  • We do not publish press releases or any other public relations (PR) content.
  • We do not publish hidden advertisements. All advertisements are marked as such, including any Sponsored Articles.
  • We do not influence the opinions of our writers or contributors and do not prompt them to tailor their work to fit our personal interests, objectives, or opinions.
  • We respect the rights of authors, designers, photographers, and developers. We do not publish links to illegal sources that reproduce the work of others or that violate the author’s rights if we detect illegal sources or copyright infringement through a reasonable effort by double-checking material to be published.
  • All Reel Lumiere editors, writers, and guest authors do NOT get paid for their work.
  • We are happy to receive constructive criticism and suggestions from readers and friends but would never perform favors in return for them. Our recommendations are based on the expertise of its authors and are made in the best interests of its readers and the membership of WIFT.
  • The writers of articles published in Reel Lumiere Magazine are credited with their byline, with their consent.
  • Reel Lumiere cedes no right of review or influence of editorial content, nor of unauthorized distribution of editorial content.
  • Inclusiveness is all-important to Reel Lumiere. The complex issues we face as a society require respect for different viewpoints. Race, class, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and geography all affect points of view. Reflecting these differences in our reporting leads to nuanced stories and a better-informed community.
