The 2025 Awards Dinner and Gala is scheduled for 7 pm on Sunday, January 26th, at the Nashville Film Institute, 191 Polk Avenue, Nashville, TN 37210.
The Alice Awards Gala, a fundraiser for the Nashville Women in Film & TV chapter, annually honors women in the entertainment industry who exemplify the spirit of Alice Guy-Blache, the world’s first female director, an extraordinary woman noted for revolutionary strides in filmmaking during the silent era and beyond.
Nashville Women in Film & Television annually salutes women who have made a difference in the industry, women who have opened the doors of opportunity for others, and women who have demonstrated steadfastness and perseverance despite difficulties, hardships and life’s circumstances.

“Bless Your Heart” is the exciting new show on the NECAT Network and streaming on FLAG-TV featuring a panel of lively ladies discussing a variety of topics, soft news stories and celebrity updates. However, these ladies all share their opinions with a decidedly southern point of view!

WIFT SPIRIT AWARD
Karen Shayne is a Producer, Publisher, and Advocate who transformed her career following a cancer diagnosis. She’s produced award-winning healthcare segments and over the years has been featured in HuffPost, People Magazine, Healthline, and more. In 2012, she founded the Women’s Survivors Alliance, a nonprofit to empower women affected by cancer. Her work has earned extraordinary national honors. Today, Karen leads Unconditionally Her, a positive women’s lifestyle blog while also creating inspiring and award-winning short and feature films encouraging women to live purposeful lives. Her passion for global storytelling continues to celebrate humanity’s resilience and the extraordinary power of hope.

Angela Green
WIFT CORNERSTONE AWARD
Angela D. Green is Executive Director of On Location: Memphis, Inc, a non-profit with a mission to teach entertainment business through real-like applications. She is also an attorney in Memphis, TN, who has represented such artists and entertainment companies such as Larry Dodson, lead vocalist for the Bar-Kays, The Funk Masters Tour, Mr. Del, Mali Music, Lil Rounds, Black Rock Revival, D’Mario, The Tennessee Mass Choir and various others across the country. Angela Green earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Purdue University, West Lafayette, and her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law.
Carlene Carter
WIFT PIONEER AWARD
Few entertainers have come to Nashville with a richer musical heritage than Carlene Carter. A third generation singer-songwriter, Carter counts among her kin some of the best-loved country musicians, including Mother Maybelle Carter, the matriarch of the renowned Carter Family and her mom, June Carter Cash. She has paved her own path as a solo artist who has topped the charts and as a member of the Carter Sisters.
Barbara Hall
WIFT TRAILBLAZER AWARD
Barbara Hall is one of the founders of the TH Entertainment Group. Barbara brings her experience in all aspects of development, producing and directing to TH’s productions. Her ability to mix the story with the music in evident in TH’s music-based documentaries and series including the America Masters films on Patsy Cline and Charley Pride in addition to managing the company’s Canadian production partner, Corridor Group Productions Inc. Barb is a proud member of the Producer’s Guild of America, the Guild of Music Supervisors, the Documentary Producers Alliance. She is also the founder and President of the international rights clearance company, Clear Cut Inc.
Silvia Castaneda
WIFT VANGUARD AWARD
Silvia Castañeda is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who joined WKRN News 2 in 2002. She is an accomplished journalist, television sales/special projects manager, on-air commercial talent, and television station community affairs liaison with over 27 years of experience in the broadcast industry. Her professional career has taken her to newsrooms in Houston, Miami, Sacramento, and Wichita covering everyone from presidents and first ladies, actors to activists, and everyday people who make communities a better place to live. From anchoring and reporting to hosting a Hispanic-issues public affair show, Silvia loves telling stories and helping educate the public about what can make their lives easier and more fun!
Dr. Ming Wang
WIFT ALLY AWARD
Dr. Ming Wang will be honored with the very first WIFT Ally Award, given to a man who has gone above and beyond in supporting women in the entertainment industry, advocating for the growth, advancement, and success of his female colleagues. He is a Harvard & MIT graduate (MD, magna cum laude) and is one of the few laser eye surgeons in the world today who holds a doctorate degree in laser physics. The film “Sight,” starring Terry Chen and Greg Kinnear, is based on his autobiography “From Darkness to Sight,” and is currently streaming via Angel Studios.

Desiree Ross
WIFT INSPIRATION AWARD
Desiree Ross’ big Hollywood break was her starring role in Lifetime’s “A Country Christmas Story” opposite Dolly Parton, where she also showcased her vocal talents by singing several songs for the movie. She next landed a recurring role in “Falling Skies,” and ultimately was tapped as a lead in “Greenleaf,” working with Oprah Winfrey and Emmy winners Lynn Whitfield and Keith David. Most recently, she starred in the holiday rom-com, “Gingersnap Christmas.”
Her philanthropic efforts include mentoring at a Chicago Art School, speaking annually to kids in Georgia’s foster system, and serving as a youth Councilor for middle and high school girls at a Christian youth camp.
